Jesus asked the disciples to remain in Jerusalem, and wait until they receive the promise of the Father, the Holy Spirit that empowers. power from on high,  This instruction is so crucial to all Believers. Waiting on God is something we all struggle with, but it's in the place of waiting that we grow, mature, know God more, and empowered to do what He's called us to do.

Most times, we run ahead of God in that which He has called us to do, He's the builder. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: - Psalm 127:1.

Jesus clearly illustrated this in John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

So, when He asked the Disciples to wait, it meant, they couldn't do it in their own strength and since Christ is no longer with them, they needed to wait for the 'promise of the Father, in the person of the Holy Spirit.

The power of the Holy Spirit, which Jesus referred to as “the promise of My Father” (Luke 24:49), is available to everyone who has trusted in Jesus Christ for salvation. But unfortunately, many believers neglect the Spirit’s power and try to do God’s work in their own human energy.

Thee is a clear difference between a Family Car and a race car. Both vehicles run, but what is under the hood of the race car makes it far more powerful than the family car. This is similar to the difference between relying on the working of the Holy Spirit and we doing it ourselves. We are called to rely of the Spirit of God at all times, both for our personal lifesytle choices and the calling of God upon our lives.

We often think that the power of the Holy Spirit is available only to pastors and missionaries, but this power is available to every believer (Eph. 1:19-20(NIV) " I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty power  that raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms." .

This same power is accessible to us when we are convicted of our inadequacy. This means acknowledging we cannot do anything apart from Jesus (John 15:5).

When we trust God to provide the stamina for the work He calls us to do, we are clothed in power. Is your confidence in yourself or in Him?

God bless you.
